new platform and data published on the WEB.
2000 Collaboration
with an institutional project for INMER SA de CV. Lead the setup and
configuration of the Traffic Control Software for the new installations of
“Centro de Control del Distrito Federal”, where he established a new process to
assure a quality configuration.

1. 1984-1986, at
INTELECSIS, He personally redesigned the control firmware for the DataSouth-180
printer to extend its precision from 72 points per inch to 180 points per inch
without modifying the hardware, neither mechanical nor electronics, just by
applying innovative algorithms. Another achievement was making the printer
language compatible with EPSON FX-100 and ImageWriter, these developments gave
the company the opportunity to continue marketing this product for over 7
years. One of the difficulties here was that there was no documentation; He had
to start with binaries and work his own dis-assembler.
a. He performed
a modification to a standard to include requirements from a major customer,
BANAMEX, which designed INTELECSIS the exclusive supplier of the printer.
b. An innovative
design of a new printer was done, but the company did not have the financial
support to exploit their own design.
2. 1988-1989, He
personally directed and worked on the "Visual Editor for Control
Strategies" for Honeywell, this was a graphical development that at that
time on Personal Computers there were not many facilities. The system allowed a
control engineer to develop plant control strategies for the Honeywell
equipment.
3. 1989-1991.
Co-developer for a multi-user system for customer attention of Clinical
Analysis Laboratory. It was installed at two distinct companies and they are
still operating on it.
4. 1990, He
directed a development of hardware and software of a Supervisory System, using
a network of PCs. INAOE with CONACyT support.
5. 1994, He
directed and designed an educational system for Design and Simulation of
Computer Architectures. It was intended as part of a recent computer
architecture book, but the software was in Spanish and there was no time to
rewrite the interface.
6. 1994-1995, He
co-directed with Mario Magaña from Oregon State
University and helped design two works about the modeling of the Large
Millimeter Telescope, as well as two works about the modeling of the control
for the LMT segmented surface.
7. 1995-1996, He
directed and helped design the Object Oriented Scheduling Simulation Tool, in
collaboration with Prof. Ted G. Lewis from the

directed and helped to design a Visual Componentware
Editor in collaboration with James Purtilo of the

directed and helped to design an experimental system for the instantiation of
Remote objects in standard C++. This helps in the task of providing the
language Constructs for parallel computation proposed by Ted G. Lewis.
10.1995-1996, He
directed and helped to design an experimental system for area isolation for
Lung Cancer, based on digitized X-Ray images. The resulting procedure is
innovative and simple. Much work remains to be done to make it more general.
11.1997- Started
working with WEB technologies, developing tools that helps to “work better to
do more with less”. This has given him capabilities to see the forest and the
trees of internet technologies.
12.1997 Design,
implementation and installation of an “Industrial Control System to automate a
longitudinal movement of in motion objects” for Warner-Lambert.

Director Intelecsis. Visited the world leader
companies of the computer printers sector. Gained technological leadership in
México to adapt or modify the negotiated technology. Proposed and developed a
new printer design. Opened other product areas.
1988-1989 Head of
Electronics, INAOE. He led changes to the organization to include a
technological development area as an integral part of the institution.
1989-1991 Technical
Director, INAOE. He led an information strategy to promote timely available,
correct and relevant information for the reports to the governing board. Led
technological changes that started before its time local area networks and
integration of personal computers that gave significant advantage. For his work
he used “working better to do more with less” as a motto.
1998-2000. General
Administrator for Computing Services, INAOE. He is responsible for the
telecommunications and computing services at INAOE. He redesigned data and
telephone institutional networks by negotiating with providers for long-term
quality relationships. Giving internet redundancy. Starting changes toward a
systemic quality administration, defined a pre-operative, operative and systems
development processes to organize the services. He has started an all web-based
system to perform network and users’ management. He has coordinated efforts
with the general administration to improve content and timely response of
services. He has managed to improve services, while increasing the number of
computers and losing people. The number of computers has more than doubled and
we have lost 3 technicians.
Graduated with highest
honors in 1974.
"PREMIO AL
SABER" (Knowledge Award) granted by the AMIME (Mexican Association of
Mechanical and Electrical Engineers) in 1974.
Member of the
Technological Project evaluation committee of COSNET and CONACyT
several times.
Technological
Productivity Award as the leader of the highest productivity group at INAOE,
1991.
Best Electronics Area
Teacher. This has been the first and only time the students selected a teacher
at INAOE, 1994.
In 1995 was invited to
give an Invited Talk at the "National Computer Science Congress". The
title of the talk was: " Computer Engineering in Year 2000 and Beyond:
Challenges and Opportunities."
